Studio
An animation and VFX studio in Cairo. Since 2017, we’ve been designing characters and weaving imagination into worlds worth stepping into.
Dumiah means doll
Dumiah is the Arabic word for doll: the first character a child ever brings to life. A few of us kept that childhood imagination alive, and in 2017 it became a studio.
We started Dumiah to raise the level of animation made for Arab audiences. Since then we have worked on originals and co-productions at the finest quality we can reach.
The whole project stays under one roof: story and design, modelling and rigging, animation with our own motion capture, then lighting, rendering and compositing. One team follows it from the first sketch to the final frame.
What we make
-
Films and series
Original stories and co-productions, from the first sketch to the final render.
-
Kids series and brand characters
Characters made for kids to love, on screen, on packaging and in their own series.
-
VFX for commercials
CG characters, creatures and effects added to live-action footage.
-
Real-time production
Films rendered in Unreal Engine, so changes are fast and the camera is free.
Animation captured from real performance
Our in-house motion capture runs on Xsens, the suit used by studios worldwide. An actor performs the scene and every movement lands on the character, so it moves with real weight and timing.
It speeds up production and opens up action that is slow to animate by hand, for film, series, games and commercials.
Working with us
What kind of projects do you take on?
Animated series and films, short films, characters and mascots for brands, commercials and VFX shots. We make our own originals and also work as a production partner.
Do you work with clients outside Egypt?
Yes. We have produced for partners in Saudi Arabia and for channels across the region, and we work remotely with clients anywhere.
Do you work in Arabic and English?
Yes. Our team works in both, and we make content for Arab audiences as well as international ones.
Do you have your own motion capture?
Yes. We run an Xsens motion capture system in the studio, so an actor can perform a scene and the movement goes straight onto the character.
How do we start?
Send us a short description of your project, your timeline and, if you have one, a budget range, through the contact page, email or WhatsApp. We reply with questions or a first proposal.
